Our Team

We are a husband and wife co-owner and operator team. You will always see one of us on the job, but we prefer working together! We are dedicated to every job and every customer, one of our goals is  to have long term relationships with our customers.
Colby is the go to for all things mechanical. On top of working with Generous Family Mowing Service, he also holds a full time job as a highway worker and comes from an extensive millwright background. He certainly stays busy!
Laura is the go to for most of the computer work. Her days are centered around being the household Chaos Coordinator (hey, it sounds more accurate than stay-at-home mom!) and homeschooling the kiddos when not working on Generous Family Mowing Service tasks.
When we aren't working toward the mowing business, we love spending time as a family, usually outside. Watching our kiddos grow is our priority, and we enjoy hiking, hunting, fishing, and exploring together.

Our Equipment

We wouldn't be successful without our equipment! We have a wide variety of equipment to ensure we can provide a quality service. While we try to run one brand for maintenance purposes, we are not opposed to trying something new. All our equipment is tested on our own property to ensure it meets Generous Family Mowing Service's quality presentation standards. If we don't like it on our property, you can be sure you will not see it on yours! Yes, believe it or not, all this equipment is regularly used, even with just the two of us!

Community Involvement

We aren't just a mowing service. We are apart of our community. And as part of the community, we choose to give back when and where we can. Our customers are everything to our business. Not only do we leave you with a naturally healthy lawn, we also give back when we can. From free mowing giveaways to items and apparel, we make sure to go above and beyond! Here is a bit more about how we give back to our local community.
Project Evergreen
Project Evergreen supports local deployed military families through their GreenCare for Troops initiative. We are proud to volunteer our services to provide free lawn care to these families. Helping maintain yards where kids and pets can safely play and adults can relax is much more that just curb appeal. Thriving lawns, trees and plants, not only help the environment but also promote mental and physical wellness and can have a protective effect on the mental well-being of military families. The last thing these families should be worrying about is keeping up with their lawn. The GreenCare for Troops initiative is a national volunteer network of lawn care and landscape professionals that donate their services and time to ease the burden on military families during a deployment. It marked it's 18th year of success and has provided an estimated $15 million in donated lawn and landscape services and peace of mind to thousands of military families across the country. If you or someone you know is or will be deployed, or you are interested in donating your services, visit the Project Evergreen website for more information!
Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC)
We are excited to be a member of the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC). TACC supports many local businesses in the area and we are excited to join this community!
Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York (BBB)
We are accredited with the Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York with an A- rating, due to only being in business a short time. We hope to see that rating go to an A+ as we continue to provide mowing services for years to come!
Giveaways
Each year, we strive to give away at least two free mows. The first is open to any local community member that is not one of our customers. We do this in the spring, so keep your eyes open and you may be this years lucky winner! The second is a free mow given to one of our customers, as a thank you for trusting us.

Local Community Winners
2025: Our first mowing giveaway was a hit! We asked entrants to let us know why they felt they deserved a free mow. Winner was picked randomly, so there was no pressure. There was a variety of responses, from taking over the family homestead, to having a hard time doing it themselves. Our winner said they weren't sure that  they were deserving, but it would be a blessing. Well, it turned out that they really DID deserve a free mow, as their mower decided it wanted to take a few weeks more of vacation, it wouldn't start up for them. We were able to get their free mow in while their mower was getting repaired and before the grass grew too much.
2026: Coming soon!

Our History

We started Generous Family Mowing Service in hopes that one day we will have a quality business we can pass onto our kiddos. We do hope to include our three kiddos as they grow, right now they are young and enjoying being kiddos! They already enjoy helping us on our own property! On top of us mowing, Colby also has his own welding business and works full time for a local Highway Department. Laura is a full time mother, or her preferred title, Coordinator of Chaos. Yes we stay busy, but we love it! As a team, this actually gives us a great way to spend time together doing something we both enjoy. We are so very excited moving forward with Generous Family Mowing Services not only for the present but also for the future.

A little history.

2024- We started out like most- two push mowers, a few weed trimmers, and a dream to grow. And grow we did! We quickly reinvested all of our jobs back into the business to make things more efficient and professional looking.

2025- We added on our first commercial mower at the beginning of the season, and we sure are glad we did! Our Bradley stand on has been a critical asset to our success in our first full season. We've been able to add a second commercial zero turn as well, and continued to add to our handheld/backpack tools. We continue to invest in growing our business, our customers depend on us to keep things looking great!

Brief history of our achieved goals

  • Grow our fleet
    • 2025- We added a commercial grade 48" Bradley stand on and a 48" ExMark Radius zero turn.
    • 2024- We started with a push mower and a self propelled push mower. Then we added a 54" zero turn, 52" hydro drive walk behind, and a 48" belt drive walk behind.
  • Handheld tools
    • 2025- We added an edger, pole saw, hedge trimmer, and brush cutter to our handheld tools! We also upgraded our backpack blowers.
    • 2024- Started out with two string trimmers, a bladed trimmer (retired), and two backpack blowers.
  • Trailer
    • 2024-At first, we had to borrow a trailer to accommodate all our equipment. As of October 2024, we purchased a 12 foot utility trailer!
